This series of aeroplane photographs is inspired by photographers who express their passion by making aircraft the central theme of their work and by presenting commercial aircraft in flight as carefully documented subjects. I was also encouraged to seek out opportunities to photograph objects that were previously unfamiliar to me. By applying an artistic approach to capturing commercial flights, I aim to transform ordinary commercial scenes into a form of contemporary photographic practice.
These images seek to reveal the beauty of nature as a vibrant backdrop, turning it into nature’s own paint, blending it with the clouds or merging it directly with the aircraft to enhance their presence, beauty, and colour in the sky. The goal is to elevate the everyday appearance of these machines into an artistic, sensory experience.
The works celebrate the constant movement of aircraft carrying passengers to destinations both domestic and international. By bringing together the commercial and engineering aspects of aviation with the colours and atmosphere of the natural world—and by embracing technological advances—these photographs create new visual “paintings,” shaped by the colours that nature provides organically.
